Animal Ecology Group

The Animal Ecology Group is part of the Department of Ecology and Environment Conservation. The Animal Ecology Group’s is dedicated to the study and conservation of large carnivores. We use state-of-the-art satellite and telecommunication technologies to monitor their movements and activities. By analyzing the data collected, we create spatial models to assess habitat suitability, examine predator-prey dynamics, and investigate the biological factors underlying human-carnivore conflicts. This knowledge is crucial for developing effective population conservation strategies.

Recognizing that wildlife conservation is inherently linked to human society, we integrate non-biological and sociological research methods into our work. Our projects include monitoring public attitudes towards large carnivores and actively engaging local communities through various initiatives. By combining ecological science with human dimensions, we aim to foster coexistence between large carnivores and people, ensuring the long-term sustainability of these vital species.
